The Unseen Empire

Huge structures piercing the clouds flooded the land all around. These "skyscrapers" as "they" called them were everywhere, but did they really need such massive things. Maybe they were used for something "important" to them, but now they are just... empty. Well most anyway.. My name is Alteria and I am "The Future"

[MAN IN RED] "Gather round my children! I have news of our progress!"
A mass of people gathered around the man and were completely silent waiting for his next words. The sky was black with clouds signifying the rain soon to come as they all stared at him as if his words were to cure there unending hunger. There were children in tattered clothing that stood at the sides of the many adults, most of which were men. The man in red looked around as if expecting someone to speak but no one said a word.
[MAN IN RED] "Our time in this horrid place is finally coming to an end and we all have this young girl to thank!"
From behind the man a fragile looking girl to be about the age of 16 appeared. The people turned to each other and began to mutter amongst themselves and some even began to leave. The man then stepped forward.
[MAN IN RED] "Wait! She may not look it but this young girl is the key to our freedom I swear and I shall show you!"
The man then took out a small radio which was in very poor condition. The radio's battery slot was empty and its nob was broken off and an antenna was no where to be seen. [MAN IN RED] "You see! This girl can not only power such devices but also use them in ways one would never predict!"
The girl tried to pull away as the radio static stuttered and voices were heard through the noise. The voices got more and more comprehensible.
[RADIO] "Ladies and gentlemen this game has taken a turn for the worst as Nakamura, the star pitcher for the Hanshin Tigers is carried off the field from what seems to be heat exhaustion."
[MAN IN RED] "She can tune in and intercept radio waves coming from the "Blinded."
The radio then stuttered into a silence as the people jumped and cheered and with that the man let go of the girl as she then fell to the ground and began to pant. Her eyes grew darker and darker until she blacked out.
